| Note | Richard Harry Simons was born in Troupsburg, NY to Edmond and Lettie Simons. Although the family was living in Dryden at the time, Lettie traveled back home to have Richard. He grew up and lived all his life in Dryden, where he hunted, and fished for recreation. During WWII, he was a member of the US Army Medical Corps., serving in India, Burma, and Florida where he advanced to rank of Tech Sargeant. Richard was an excellant carpenter, and specialized in plumbing and heating systems. Neighbors would remark that "Dick" was the hardest working man they knew. His love of music was evident as he was always whistling or singing while he worked. A devoted husband and father, Richard spent a great deal of time with his family at their summer cottage on Cayuga Lake, NY. |
